🌍 Celebrating Mothers Worldwide: A Message from Akili Platform Tanzania 🌍
Today, on behalf of Akili Platform Tanzania, we join the world in honoring mothers everywhere. Regardless of status, wealth, or background, one universal truth unites us all—our first home was our mother's womb.
In 2025, we celebrate the remarkable efforts of the Drug Control and Enforcement Authority (DCEA) under the leadership of Hon. Aretas J. Lyimo, Commissioner General, for their commitment to saving lives. Their collaborative approach has led to the rehabilitation of 432,738 women from substance addiction, as highlighted in the 2023 report.
Key regions with significant progress include:
- Dar es Salaam: 121,813 women
- Pwani: 32,843 women
- Mwanza: 20,430 women
- Kigoma: 17,122 women
- Mbeya: 16,899 women
- Kagera: 15,283 women
- Shinyanga: 14,885 women
- Tabora: 6,133 women
This is a milestone in reducing the impact of drug abuse on mental health and society.
At Akili Platform Tanzania, we are committed to raising awareness about mental health and substance abuse through education, community engagement, and media outreach. We advocate breaking the stigma surrounding addiction and empowering those recovering from it.
Mothers are the backbone of society. Let us support them economically and emotionally to ensure they never return to harmful habits, recognizing their vital role in shaping future generations.
